For the last 70 years, House & Garden magazine has set the standard in design and decoration for the home. Published by Condé Nast in the UK, House & Garden is the sister publication to Vogue, Glamour, Vanity Fair and GQ.
Talisman began working with Conde Nast in 2016, and immediately we started the search for a partner that could deliver the level of quality and excellence deserving of a collection bearing the House & Garden brand.
After a long and considered search, Talisman found Arlo & Jacob. As a part of a group of companies with decades of heritage hand-making furniture here in the UK, Arlo and Jacobs offered the ideal fusion of innovation, excellence and commerciality.
The partnership has seen the creation of a unique collection of upholstered furniture. A combination of rich heritage and superior comfort, the collection is an exciting and charming showcase of quality British manufacturing and style.
The initial House & Garden Collection is inspired by shapes seen in the houses and rooms featured in the magazine: stylish, much loved classics brought up to date, rethought and refined. The designs have been conceived by House & Garden’s decoration director, Gabby Deeming, who has paid special attention to the kind of details the team at House & Garden love, but struggle to find at an affordable price. These include single seat cushions, smart painted legs, and generous and considered proportions that look elegant as well as being comfortable.
“This is a hugely exciting new venture for House & Garden magazine. We have strong feelings about what makes a stylish and comfortable place to sit, and so it felt natural to apply this trained eye to designing our own range of sofas and armchairs. We looked for a company that would take us seriously, understand what we wanted to achieve and work closely with us to bring our designs to fruition,” commented Hatta Byng, Editor of House & Garden.
Julian Day, Managing Director of Talisman Licensing added: “We’re proud to have worked with Condé Nast on their first entry into brand extension in the UK and to have brought the iconic House & Garden title to life beyond its pages. This collection embodies everything that we strive for at Talisman; craftsmanship, provenance and excellence.”
The initial range, which was unveiled at Decorex International in September 2017, features three sofas, two chairs and a footstool. Each piece can be upholstered in up to twenty fabrics handpicked by House & Garden, as well as over 120 of Arlo & Jacob’s house fabrics.
The House & Garden Collection is available to buy from Arlo and Jacobs website.
